In a major release an update of the local installed client is necessary as a result of added screens, different datastructure and/or different communication with the server. The stoplight at login of the client will be 'red' to notify you (you will not be able to login). In a minor release no update of the client is necessary. The stoplight at login of the client will be 'amber' to notify you.
